A few times each year (usually in summer and around the holidays), Starbucks releases a promo game to promote their seasonal drinks. The gamification of products is nothing new, but Starbucks certainly does an excellent job of this. I get sucked in every time they release a new game, planning out my Starbucks visits and drinks in advance, all according to whatever will get me the most game plays.

Starbucks released another “Starbucks for life” game a few days ago, where each drink purchase gives you a game play piece, and 3 of a kind is a winner! But I recently found a way around all of this, how you can play the game without buying any drinks at all!

On the Starbucks for life game site, the very bottom, in very tiny fine-print, reads “no purchase necessary”. But isn’t that the whole point of the game?! To be perfectly honest, I have no idea why they have this option, but I’m certainly not complaining about it!

Here’s how to play Starbucks for Life for free:

• Go to www.starbucksforlife.com and sign in with your Starbucks account (or create one if you don’t have one already).
  
• Scroll to the very bottom of the page and click the “click here” button in the sentence “To enter without making a purchase, click here.”.
  
• Fill out the form that pops up, and submit.
  • The “select a challenge” will always have a “Daily Play” option, and everyone gets 2 of these plays per day (you’ll have to fill out the form twice to redeem both plays). Depending on the day and the challenges available, there may also be a second option in the dropdown. These challenges are additional ways to earn more plays, and will require additional filled out forms.
    
• Starbucks will then send you a verification email, and you’ll have to click the link in the email to activate the play.
